SJP announced a list of guiding principles for the University of Rochester to adopt when they presented their positions and answered questions at an open Faculty Senate meeting on May 7, 2024. The principles are as follows:

1. Prioritize the safety and security of students.

2. Consider our University reputation and credibility.

3. Understand the financial implications.

4. Define our ethical responsibilities.

5. Align with our broad educational goals.

6. Examine potential law and compliance risks (violations of international law?)

7. Identify alternative locations.

8. Understand the role of institutional influence.
